Workshop space and Tools
Safety first of course, but make tools where possible.
I organised the mess in the garage to take up less space, and built a work bench.
A lot of my tools remained in the UK when I brought the bike to Italy. Without any prospect of being allowed to travel due to Covid, it was much simpler to go shopping for them again and also use the excuse to get those items I always wanted but never did.
I’ve rebuilt this bike before, and others (Eric Cheney XT500, XL100, RM125) but I’d like to try to get this done without blood blisters, scraping my knuckles or damaging parts by compromising. Having specialised tools will also to speed things up. I didn’t have tyre levers but around the corner is a tyre centre and they remove and fit for free (as the owner is in the same car/bike club).
I would’ve much preferred to have used local shops but I had to get quite a lot online due to specialisms or Covid-19. These were not all bought at the start of the project, some were purchased as and when I (realised I) needed them.
